Honey and Cinnamon

This is the perfect easy and tasty  accompaniment that will work wonders with most herbal teas and has many health benefits. My favorite tea to have it with is mint and sage. This mixture can be stirred into your favorite cup of herbal brew or served as a small side to eat along side your tea , this is my favorite way introduced to me by my partner, it is definitely a loving treat that will reflect in your overall well-being . It is so simple but really does help to uplift your tea. For every 20 grams of honey, I mix 5-10 grams of cinnamon to make a dark brown past or alternatively  1 teaspoon of cinnamon for every table spoon of honey.

Health Benefits

Cinnamon (cassia) is known to be especially beneficial in treating digestive disorders, menstrual discomfort and joint pain due to it being plentiful in cinnamaldehyde (the anti-inflammatory molecular compound contributing in cinnamon its smell and taste). Honey is also well known for having certain anti-inflammatory properties, in addition to being full of nutrients to name a couple:

  • Amino acids
  • Vitamin C
  • RiboflaviNiacin
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Phosphorus
  • Potassium
  • Zinc
  • Vitamin B6
  • Folate
  • Calcium

All these nutrients make this combination somewhat of a super food. Not only just a delicious accompaniment to your favorite herbal tea. It’s health benefit speculations are plentiful, I can not prove any of them but I definitely feel that this cinnamon and honey mix has help my digestive system along with menstrual discomfort. This is my go-to when my painkiller or digestion aid pill doesn’t kick in. Sometimes no matter how busy life is, you need to take a moment for yourself and health. Tea can be the perfect break during the day for this, to stop, slow down and even meditate to find your bearings in an every so busy and demanding world.
